  1. Where could I go to get away from your spirit?
    Where could I go to escape your presence?

    If I went up to heaven, you would be there.
    If I went down to the grave, you would be there too!

    If I could fly on the wings of dawn,
    stopping to rest only on the far side of the ocean -
    even there your hand would guide me;
    even there your strong hand would hold me tight!

    If I said, “ The darkness will definitely hide me;
    the light will become night around me, ”
    even then the darkness isn’t too dark for you!
    Nighttime would shine bright as day,
    because darkness is the same as light to you!

    You are the one who created my innermost parts;
    you knit me together while I was still in my mother’s womb.

    Psalm 139:7-13

    So, to recap: Christians (and other religious folks who include the Psalms in their Scriptures) believe that you can’t escape from God, not if you go to the highest heaven nor the lowest parts of hell or flee to the other side of the world.

    Please keep this in mind when people want to make non-Biblical, anti-Christian suggestions about the limitations on God’s presence.

    Or, to put it another way: If you look over the bodies of 20 children and 6 school staff and say “Serves you right for kicking God out of schools!” then you should know that you have no Biblical basis for that statement, because Scripture tells us that there is nowhere we can go where God is not there.
