The next paragraph is going to be prefaced with a “>” which should cause it to be rendered as a

Update: This bug only effects posts which written in Markdown and then edited.
This is the post as it was written:
This is what happens when I try to edit it after posting:
You can also see that the test within the backticks was changed.
This happened very recently (I am writing this on 2013-02-13).
Congratulations to Tumblr for fucking up the space/time continuum.
UPDATE: See end for important note that obliterates most of the criticism in this post.
I can’t post Video through the Tumblr app. Here’s what happens when I try.
Ok, so how do you hook up a Vimeo account?
http://www.tumblr.com/help has no help. Searching http://www.tumblr.com/search?scope=help_docs&q=vimeo leads to one result (in English) http://www.tumblr.com/docs/en/api which links to http://www.tumblr.com/vimeo.
Which is 404.
Tumblr now supports direct video uploading but the app hasn’t been updated to support that.
Update: I emailed Tumblr support about this and they suggested that I delete the Tumblr app and reinstall it. I considered this to be a dumb suggestion, but tried it anyway… and it worked. After I deleted it and reinstalled it, the video that I took was uploaded to Tumblr’s own video service, and did not require Vimeo at all.
Still true: there’s also no way to do a simple thing such as linking to a YouTube or Vimeo file by URL as you can do in the regular posting format through the Dashboard.
Seriously Tumblr, your app sucks week-old donkey balls.
Of the very few things it even attempts to do, you’d think that DISPLAYING A POST would work properly.
But you’d be wrong.
I won’t hold my breath for showing tags, letting me reply, landscape mode, THE ABILITY TO FOLLOW A NEW TUMBLR, or other “advanced” features.
Did you know that if you start to reblog something, and while you are writing the reblog, the person deletes the post you were reblogging, Tumblr will a) throw up an error and b) throw away your post too!
Which is awesome since I just spent 20 minutes responding to something that someone wrote and then deleted, meaning that my post is POOF! gone like magic.
ADDED IRONY: When I posted this, Tumblr showed me the “You have an unsaved post!” and I spent a few seconds thinking it might have been the post that had been thrown away, BUT NO, it was just Tumblr continuing to display one of the many little annoying bits of brokenness that make it so amazingly irritating and feel like a “hobby” platform instead of a viable one.
Heck of a job with the new iPhone interface to Tumblr.
I thought the UI for mobile reblogging was the worst it could get, but even that can be made to work if you’re stubborn.
Dealing with nested quotes is impossible given that there’s no way to scroll or resize.
I’ll say again: the Tumblr API really needs to be raised to the level Twitter has theirs, at the very least for reading Tumblr.
